Piet Hein – what a multi-faceted personality and what a universal genius he was! More on this below…*
I’m not a fan of life coaching slogans on the wall, but I think this is a good “Gruk”! I have the same one in my kitchen to remind me of what’s important in life (and to remind me – as a scatterbrain – of my to-dos). Now, listen to what the wise six-legged cat has to say!
Direct translation:
Forget the unimportant.
Remember to take the easy way.
Remember to love while you dare.
Remember to live while you do.
Interpretive translation:
Remember to forget anger, worry and regret.
Love while you still have love to give.
Live while you still have life to live.
This Piet Hein wall plaque made of Fajance ceramic was produced by Royal Copenhagen in 1954 and comes with a magnet so that you don’t forget your to-dos (Danish: “husk”). Size: approx. 16.5 x 14 x 0.5 cm (height, width, depth). Used item in top condition. No damage. A nice gift for the scatterbrained!
Shipping in insured parcel incl. tracking at regular DHL prices. Well packed! The shipping costs are automatically calculated for your postal code (country) in the shopping cart checkout. Before payment. For combined shipping when buying multiple items, please contact me via the “Inquiry” button before purchase.
*Piet Hein (December 16, 1905 – April 17, 1996) was a Danish universal genius. He was a scientist, mathematician, inventor, designer, author and poet who often wrote under the Old Norse pseudonym “kumbel” (gravestone). His short poems, known as “grooks” (Danish: “gruks”), first appeared in the Danish daily newspaper “Politiken” under the pseudonym “Kumbel Kumbell” shortly after the Nazi occupation in April 1940. By the way: he is said to have been a direct descendant of the historically important Dutch pirate of the same name.
